Tortilis Camp; named after the flat-topped umbrella thorn tree, ‘the Acacia Tortilis’, is situated in the Acacia Tortilis woodland within the Amboseli, with the majestic backdrop of Africa’s highest mountain, Kilimanjaro. Guests can access Tortilis Camp by road or air. The journey from Nairobi takes approximately four hours whereas guests from Tanzania can be picked from Namanga at an extra cost. There are also airstrip transfers that take 45 minutes from the Amboseli airstrip.

Enhols Rating: 9/10Tortilis Camp has 17 spacious tents, all with elegant en-suite bathrooms containing showers and modern flush toilets. Each tent leads from a bedroom with expansive king-size or generous twin beds, through a dressing area into modern bathrooms with pressured hot showers and flush toilets. There is a main lounge, bar and dining area, all exquisitely built with natural materials and thatched roofs, with magnificent views of Kilimanjaro. The camp has a family house that is made up of two en-suite double or twin bedrooms, and a spacious sitting / dining room with veranda. The tents can accommodate extra beds for children under the age of 16 years only.
