Hotel Overview

Elsa’s Kopje located on Mughwango Hill in Meru National Park. It’s known for its rhino population and is named after Elsa the lioness, made famous by George and Joy Adamson’s biographical book and film ‘Born Free’. It blends in with the rocky crags of the “kopje” (small hill), built above the site of George Adamson’s original campsite.

Elsa’s Kopje Accommodation

Elsa Kopje has a private house available for rent, and a honeymoon suite. Guests stay in thatched cottages, which are open to the elements and surrounded with rustic wooden railings. The lodge’s eight cottages are furnished with a double bed or two twin beds, draped in mosquito netting, and each has an en-suite bathroom (some baths are outside). The cottages have private decks; one has a private sitting room instead. Some of the cottages have room for an extra bed, which can be used only by a child under the age of 16. The lodge’s dining room and bar take advantage of the beautiful views. Private meals can be served in the bush, as can sundowner cocktails. Guests can relax in the lounge. There is an infinity swimming pool. The lodge can arrange game drives and guided bush walks with qualified and experienced guides, trips to the nearby Tana River, and fishing expeditions
