Governors’ Camp has a peaceful setting in the forest along the winding banks of the Mara River, in the northern Masai Mara. The camp was established in 1972, and combines a traditional safari feel with a touch of luxury. Governors’ Camp is 250 km from Nairobi and Wilson Airport is 250 km, 6 hrs drive Governors’ Camp has 38 tents 24 Twins, 12 double tents, 1 Suite (Justus Suite). Everything is under canvas, all tents have en-suit bathrooms with hot and cold running water and flushing toilets. There is a bar tent with deck overlooking the Mara River and dinning tent with views over the plains. Governors Camp has just been awarded a Silver Eco Rating from Eco- Tourism Kenya due to our sustainable tourism practices in place in camp.
Governor’s Camp Accommodation
Governors’ Camp has a total of 37 tents twenty four of which are twin and twelve double. The tents are very spacious each with its own verandah, en-suite bathrooms with showers, flush toilets, and hot and cold running water. The camp has no electricity supply in the tents however the gas and paraffin lanterns as well as candles available give the camp a unique and romantic African ambience. All tents have verandahs, some with views across the sweeping plains of the Masai Mara, others look over the banks of the meandering Mara River. All tents are classic safari style each with en-suite bathrooms and a private verandah.
