Mara West Camp
Mara West Camp combines luxury accommodations with the breathtaking adventures of an unforgettable African safari. Luxury tents are perched in secluded spots on the edge of the Oloololo Escarpment, offering guests both panoramic views of the Masai Mara Game Reserve below and a sense of exclusive privacy. Various activities in the camp include game viewing which is the highlight of a stay at Mara West Camp. Walking tours accompanied by a nature walk guide provides an experience of enjoying Kenya’s flora, birds and wildlife on foot. Traditional dances are also performed by the Maasai dressed in their full traditional regalia and first hand accounts of the life of a Maasai are usually told. Mara West Camp also provides massages and other spa treatments.
Mara West Camp Accommodation
Mara West Camp has six Luxurious tented cottages that are perched in secluded spots on an escarpment edge overlooking the vast plains of the Maasai Mara National Reserve providing guests with spectacular views and a sense of private exclusion. The cottages are fully furnished and accommodate two queen sized beds each. They also have ensuite bathrooms that consist of flush toilets and large spacious hot water showers. The cottages also have a wide front verandah which overlooks Maasai Mara’s vast plains giving guests a chance to experience beautiful sunrises and glimpses of wildlife roaming around. For those seeking the tented safari experience, the camp also offers traditional safari tents. These fully canvas tents provide a bedroom within nature that is both comfortable and private, yet almost like sleeping outdoors. Each tent has two double beds with comfortable linens and duvets. Brick bathrooms provide the same ensuite amenities of the larger tented chalets, with hot showers and flush toilets. Electric lighting and plug outlets are also found in each tent. Mara West Camp’s electricity is a combination of solar, generator and battery packs, so that power is always available for lights, and during generator times power is available in the tents for charging equipment and other electrical appliances. Meals are served in the Kingfisher Dining Lodge or out on the Kingfisher’s large verandah with a wide view of the savannah surrounding the back side of the camp. With a fully equipped kitchen and professional chefs, Mara West Camp is able to spread the table with simple but appetizing dishes of many varieties. A wide range of tastes, including vegetarian dishes, can be catered to.
